This site

flasheide.com has no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no cookies. Nothing tracks you from page to page.

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles the technical details of each request, such as your IP address, in order to deliver the page. The fonts come from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google for them.

What stays in your browser

Some pages save things in your browser's own storage, on your device, so they're still there next time. None of it is sent to me:

  • light or dark mode;
  • in the IDE: your open files (drafts), your Arduino sketches and the terminal's height;
  • in Starters: the board you picked and your Wi-Fi network's name (never its password).

Clearing this site's data in your browser removes all of it.

Your boards

Flashing and the IDE talk to your board straight from your browser, over USB (Web Serial) or the Pico's drive. MicroPython and CircuitPython code, your files and anything you type for a board go only to the board, never to this site's server.

Building Arduino sketches

Arduino sketches are different: they have to be compiled before a board can run them, and that happens on this site's build server. When you click Verify or Upload, the sketch's files and the board you picked are sent to the server, which compiles them and sends back the result.

  • Each build runs in a fresh folder that's deleted when it finishes. The site's own code doesn't log your sketch.
  • So the same sketch builds instantly next time, the result (the compiled program and the compiler's messages, which can quote lines of your sketch) is kept in Cloudflare's cache for up to a week, filed under a fingerprint (a hash) of the exact files and board. It isn't linked to you.
  • To keep the server fair to everyone, the number of builds from one IP address is limited for a minute at a time.

Nothing is sent until you click Verify or Upload. Writing and saving sketches stays in your browser.

Firmware and packages come from their publishers: micropython.org, circuitpython.org, GitHub and Edge Impulse. Firmware downloads pass through this site's server, which fetches the file and hands it straight to your browser. The site's own code keeps no log of those requests.
